In June, three of the funniest guys on the planet stopped by Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics to bring a smile to the kids and raise money for the hospital. Comedians Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, The Bounty Hunter), Paul Rudd (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Role Models) and Rob Riggle (Talladega Nights, The Hangover, Step Brothers) hosted a charity poker tournament to benefit Children’s Mercy. A few of their famous friends showed up to support this good cause, including Will Ferrell, George Wendt and Will Forte. Riggle, Sudeikis and Rudd all grew up in the Kansas City area and have a great appreciation for the world-class care that Children’s Mercy provides to families throughout the region. They were genuinely touched by Children’s Mercy’s commitment to treat every child, regardless of the family’s ability to pay. And they wanted to help ensure that these children continue to have access to the latest advances in treatment. On behalf of all the families in our region who will benefit from their support, Children’s Mercy would like to thank these three hometown heroes. Sometimes, laughter really is the best medicine.
